System and method for detecting and locating the center of beacons installed along guided vehicle routes

Abstract

The present invention concerns a system (1) and a method for detecting/locating the center of a beacon (4) installed along a guided vehicle route, the system (1) comprising: - a laser rangefinder (12) using a laser beam (121) for measuring a distance to the beacon (4), the laser rangefinder delivering a signal SL that is a measure of the distance to objects that have reflected its laser beam; - a processing unit (14) configured for determining the center of the beacon (4) from an identification of a profile of the beacon from the signal SL.
